In this post, we take a look at a dying plaza on the west side of Greece, NY. And now, welcome to Elm Ridge Center.
Our first specimen is this former Sam's Club, which was one of 63 stores to close in January 2018. This exterior looks like it has never been updated since this store opened save for a logo change.

Tops closed this location in October 2012. Despite being empty since, there is graffiti in the vestibule, threateningly titled "Don't Enter!"

Both of these are currently vacant.
I've saved the best for last, the ancient Wal-Mart #1610, which is freestanding. So far, not much progress in the relocation plans. And this store STILL looks ancient on the inside! I'm still convinced this has been on the chopping block for well over 15 years considering the situation with the registers!
Rumor has it that Costco wants to open a store here and knock down the entire plaza, which would leave this store here as Walmart owns this building and the surrounding land. Other rumors are Walmart buying this plaza from the bankrupt company that owns the plaza and build a supercenter here rather than the proposed shopping center located a mile west that already has a Kohl's.
Until next time, stay informed!
