FLASHBACK: Not Fooling Anybody - Kinney Drugs of Gouverneur, NY

In this edition of FLASH BACK, we go back to June 29, 2018 to a Kinney Pharmacy whose past is rather obvious... welcome to Gouverneur, New York!

This was originally leased to Rite Aid in the 1990s before closing in 2001, with Kinney Drugs moving in sometime later.

I cannot say for certain if the tile is itself a Rite Aid leftover as stores with it also had dark blue tiles in conjunction with the light blue tiles. Many repurposed Rite Aid stores like this simply have the light blue tiles.

Cortland Contradictions

PREFACE: It is rumored this location had its logo updated, and likely its interior as well. Any comments stating this should be taken with a grain of salt.

In this post, we will be looking at a store whose interior and exterior contradict each other. Photos were taken on July 29, 2021.

Exterior dons a rare 1970s or 1980s semi-rainbow paint scheme and logo bearing the Food Stores tagline. The interior isn't as vintage as we look inside...

The interior uses a common decor package used from the late 2000s through the mid 2010s.
