FLASHBACK: Gates Big M Market

 

In this edition of FLASH BACK, we go back to October 9, 2018 to visit a basic grocery store in the Rochester suburb of Gates.

Store has been owned by Brian McNamara since 1983, but has been operating for over 50 years.

It is very odd to see grocery stores like this with plastic carts. The decals on the sides are generic "Save More at Your Neighborhood Store", while underneath them are filed off logo panels. Original source unknown given the logo panel has scrape marks all the way across. These United Steel & Wire Co. carts are dated 11-04 and 11-03 respectively.

A Suspected Centennial: Big M of Windsor, NY

In today's post, I will be showing a place I've been looking to visit for a couple months. I present this interesting Big M store located in Windsor, NY.

Doesn't this look like a former Centennial A&P? That is the reason I wanted to visit this store.

Cart Tax: Bland Technibilt carts that are often seen in smaller supermarkets like this. Both the 5341 and 3241 pictured here were manufactured in November 2011.
