Hot Dot Leftovers? - Yando's Big M of Plattsburgh, New York

Last month's tour took us to a very odd and dark Big M store in Plattsburgh, New York. All photos taken on May 25, 2021.

Yando's replaced a box-like sign with this one earlier this year.

Cart Tax: These are the carts in use at this location. Cart #1 is the standard express cart, a 2012 Technibilt #5341. Cart #2 is a refurbished Technibilt #6240, possibly acquired. Cart #3 is an original 2005 Technibilt #6240 with a non-original Technibilt seat flap. Cart #4 is a Technibilt #5141D inside the store.

Inside the store is this weird dark green trim, completely atypical of any Grand Union décor. However, that Produce sign is suspicious. Is that a Hot Dot leftover? It looks like automotive décor.

Bread products on the left side of the store. Also the grid lighting here is not original; rather it has been upgraded to LED. Skyway Deli is also visible.

Back of the store. The sign at left is for meat.

Frozen foods. The coolers look fairly modern.

Blurry view of the alcohol section.

Looking back toward the front. Weird tile job in the front of the registers.

I wonder if these non-descript aisle markers are Grand Union or Hot Dot leftovers as well?

Looking back toward dairy. This is also on the left side of the store.

Was the odd dark green paint job a leftover from Grand Union/Hot Dot, or did the Yando family paint it? Feel free to fill in the blanks in the comments! Peace out.
