Not-so-Grand Union in Sidney

In this post, we will cover another Price Chopper that occupies a former Tops.

Exterior photo taken on May 7, 2018; interior photos taken on May 21, 2021.

The nondescript facade is a leftover from this building's original tenant, a Grand Union that moved from a c. 1980 location next door, however this appears to pre-date the current attached Kmart, which also moved from the same attached building. This one became a Tops following C&S's acquisition in 2001 and being in the batch of six Tops stores sold to Price Chopper in 2005.

Like Oneida, this store has older-style aisle markers despite being a store of 2006.

At the register area, the red-and-white Grand Union tile is still present. In fact, the pink tile around it is a GU artifact.

These 2020 Unarco M100Z shopping carts replaced a set of grey 2014 PC41U carts. In fact, all the stores that had PC41Us switched over to the bland, Walmart-grade wire carts.
