FLASHBACK: Inside the Westgate Job Lot

UPDATE: As of August 6, 2023 this store is permanently closed.

In this edition of FLASH BACK, we go back to June 19, 2017 and look inside the Ocean State Job Lot at the Westgate Plaza in Albany, New York. But first, to see the shopping carts this store and other Ocean State Job Lot stores use, see Vultures! The Worst of Ocean State Job Lot for information on them.

This store was once a Fashion Bug which opened prior to 2005 and became A.J. Wright on October 16, 2008. This section was originally where the front of an Albany Public Market (Scott's Lo-Cost)/Grand Union sat prior to the redevelopment of the plaza in 1993. It is not known if Fashion Bug was the original post-redevelopment tenant.

As these pictures were taken in 2017, this store still had the grid lighting typically seen in TJX stores with drop ceilings. Starting at the end of 2018 and ending at the beginning of 2019, the lighting was converted to rows of LED strips with diffusers. Here is a picture from March 2019 showing the new lighting:
