FLASHBACK: A Soft Opening in Troy

Today on FLASH BACK, we go back to November 30, 2018 to the soft opening of a store in the Capital Region. Welcome to the Hudson Valley Plaza in Troy, New York!

I found out about this store's opening on pure accident while listening to the radio while driving through Colonie. However, this would have been a soft opening as the official grand opening was on the second of December. This store was originally a Price Chopper from about 1984 until moving across the shopping center in the early 2000s. This became A.J. Wright, a brand The TJX Companies would eliminate in 2011. This was converted to their T.J. Maxx name before moving to the Van Rensselaer Square power center in 2018.

Inside is typical Job Lot fate, with yellow walls and LED strip lighting, which replaced T.J. Maxx's grid lighting prior to OSJL moving in.

Signage consists of bland Target-esque signage in the Helvetica Neue typeface.
