FLASHBACK: Not-so-Grand Union at Valatie

In this edition of FLASH BACK, we go back to January 11, 2018 to a rather fast conversion to the grittiest closeout store in the Northeast.

Road sign which once had Grand Union's logo on it at one point. Note the part of the sign for "Columbia Memorial Hospital, Valatie Campus". That was Grand Union's previous location in the strip.

This store was among Grand Union's last non-Mega Save stores to be built, sometime between 1995 and 1997. The store would close around early 2007 with Job Lot opening shortly after.

Cart bay. Note the left-most row of carts were 1995 Tote 1234Ws, which were leftovers from Grand Union.

Looking into the middle section of the store. The section with the open ceiling originally had cylindrical pendant lighting while the perimeter had grid lighting. This ceiling design and layout was not much different than what Price Chopper was doing at the time.

Another service area with the signage removed. Any idea on what it was?

OSJL configured the doors on the left side of the building to be one way only.

It goes without saying this store was subjected to an LED lighting upgrade. Here is a picture from June 2019 showing both areas of the store with it:
